When the day is over and you’re crawling into bed are you able to look back on your day and feel accomplished? Do you feel like you rocked the world? Or do you look back and wonder where your day even went? I don’t know about you, but I’ve been struggling with prioritizing my time. I find myself partaking in the death scroll of social media. It never benefits me OR my family. All it ever does is steal precious moments away. And I can’t blame social media because I’m the one who chose to spend my time doing that! I say it’s time to stand up and walk away!

I know we’re only supposed to choose 1 word for the year, but I say 4 words is better. Let’s change lives. Starting with our own and trickling down into our kids. Let’s inspire them. Let’s show our kids how truly special they are to us. Do we really want our kids to remember us with our eyes glued to a little screen?

Back in the 80’s it was soap operas. Now, it is social media. We’re always eager to watch other peoples live their lives while disregarding our own. What happened to traveling? What happened to barbecues? What about family reunions? It’s time to go back to the good old days.

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12

One thing that I’ve been doing is having my iPhone limit my screen time. I allow myself on my phone and computer only between the hours of 2-4pm. You may be better in the wee early morning hours or in the middle of the night. You do you boo! The middle of the day is perfect for us, because that’s the kids quiet time anyhow. Sometimes that means an educational tv show for them.

I want you to know that if you don’t respond to somebody immediately on facebook – that’s ok! Life will go on. And they’ll come to learn that you were busy enjoying life the way you want to! Don’t apologize for not getting back to them sooner. They aren’t in charge of you.

I want you to know your worth. You’re not just here to exist. You’re here to CHANGE LIVES! And those lives may just be the little ones you’re raising. Those little ones are world changers! I know it’s easy to feel invisible and like what we’re doing as moms doesn’t truly matter. But darlin’, that’s a lie straight from the enemy. You were created to bring life into this world. What a blessing! Now that you have this beautiful gift, invest in it. Take your children on walks. Listen to their dreams. Help them through their struggles. Nourish their bodies, brains, and souls.

Recently, my life got flipped turned upside down so much that I really wasn’t making family meals anymore. How sad. I was relying on my teens to make meals. Justifying it by saying it was education for them. You guys. I missed cooking for my kids! That is one of my resolutions and I’m baby stepping into it. The kids also get to help me cook, but now they get the memories of mama cooking for them! I get to wake up before they do and have breakfast ready! What a great way for them to start their days.

Right now, take a look back at your day. Was it what you expected? Was it what you wanted? If you want a real slap in the face, check your phone to see how much time you spent on it today. Cause yeah, it will tell you. Warning: it’ll make you sick to your stomach.

Don’t give your time to those who don’t treasure it. Your children, your husband, they are the ones that treasure your time. You mean the world to them! Show them how much they mean to you.

Blessings ?
